Adrift - licence ================ Adrift is a crew-rescue puzzle game by Team Chimera (mit-mit and Lucid Design Art), made for PyWeek 21 (September 2015, theme "The Aftermath"). This site serves the original entry from the PyWeek archive: https://s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/media.pyweek.org/21/chimera21/adrift_pyweek21.zip sha256 7712fa0c35e1813741bf79da8805358b54537d5bea1d1d8c7d99ec0f364efc49 (entry page: https://pyweek.org/e/chimera21/; retrieved 2026-11-04) The licence sentence in the README of that zip reads, exactly: "Licence: All of the artwork and code for this game (excepting those listed below) is CC0 (free to use in whatever manner you see fit, attribution not required)" The exceptions it lists, reproduced in the README below, are: the fonts derived from "Brodmin 5x10" by capbros (CC0); "Intro Music 002" by mit-mit (CC0); "Hero Down", "Vanes" and "Mourning Music" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/), used unchanged; "Button and Switches" by FreqMan (https://www.freesound.org/people/FreqMan/sounds/31589/) and "Invasion Alarm" by felipejordani (https://www.freesound.org/people/felipejordani/sounds/324394/), both CC BY 3.0; "9 Explosion Sounds" on OpenGameArt (https://opengameart.org/content/9-explosion-sounds), Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/), which the author mixed with a CC0 siren into music/explosionandalarm.ogg (that file is distributed under CC BY-SA 3.0; the zip, the patch and the build script are hosted next to the game as the licence's change notice); and three more CC0 sound sets ("Sirens and Alarm Noise" by aquinn, "Steam Release Sounds" by bart, "Spacey 1up/powerup" by Game Audio). Every audio file in the game maps to one of these entries (the README names the alarm by its original file name, 324394__felipejordani__003-invasion-alarm.ogg, which the game ships as snd/shipalarm.ogg; it is the only alarm in the game). What this site serves: the adrift.pgapp built by Builds/build-adrift.sh from that zip, with the changes published as web.patch next to the source: the code was ported from Python 2 to Python 3 (integer division, xrange, the Queue module), the main loop became asynchronous (a pygbag requirement), the Quit buttons do nothing, progress is written to /saves, and the game's main.py became src/adrift_main.py. The level editor was left out. No artwork, sound or music was altered. The game runs on pygame-ce (LGPL-2.1) and CPython 3.12 compiled by the pygbag project; their licences and source are on the site's Licenses page. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ README.txt (from the game) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ======= Adrift ======= PyWeek 21 Entry for theme "The Aftermath" (https://pyweek.org/21/) Team entry by "Team Chimera" (mit-mit and Lucid Design Art) ============= Requirements: ============= Python 2.5+ (tested on 2.7.6, should work on earlier versions): http://www.python.org/ Pygame 1.9+: http://www.pygame.org/ ================= Running the game: ================= Open a terminal/console/shell, "cd" to the game directory and run the command python run_game.py ================ Playing the game ================ Background Story: In the twenty second century, the enormous colony ships left earth, venturing out into the void, destined for nearby stars and newly discovered inhabitable planets. The journeys were decades long, travelling at sub-light speeds, the crew to live out their lives at their destination, never to step foot on Earth again. Far from the safety of our home planet, and beyond assistance, ships were occasionally never heard from again. The Game: The starship "Endeavour" has suffered a major catastrophe two years into it's journey from Earth. In the aftermath of the disaster, it's up to you to organise you crew to escape from the wreckage and get to the escape pods. Controls: Use the mouse to select units, direct them across the map and utilise switches that control doors and compartment pressurisation. ======= Credits ======= Story/Game Design: mit-mit, Lucid Design Art Programming: mit-mit Artwork: Lucid Design Art Licence: All of the artwork and code for this game (excepting those listed below) is CC0 (free to use in whatever manner you see fit, attribution not required) Other content of the game was plundered from various open sources: Fonts: Game fonts derived from "Brodmin 5x10 font" by capbros (CC0) http://opengameart.org/content/broddmin-5x10-font-incl-lower-case-letters Music: "Intro Music 002" by mit-mit (CC0) intromusic002.ogg "Hero Down, "Vanes" and "Mourning Music" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Sounds: "Button and Switches" by FreqMan (CC BY 3.0) 31589__freqman__buttons01.ogg http://www.freesound.org/people/FreqMan/sounds/31589/ "Invasion Alarm" by felipejordani (CC BY 3.0) 324394__felipejordani__003-invasion-alarm.ogg http://www.freesound.org/people/felipejordani/sounds/324394/ "9 Explosion Sounds" by Unnamed (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License) explosionandalarm.ogg http://opengameart.org/content/9-explosion-sounds "Sirens and Alarm Noise" by aquinn (CC0) vacuum_alarm.ogg, explosionandalarm.ogg http://opengameart.org/content/sirens-and-alarm-noise "Steam Release Sounds" by bart (CC0) steam_hisses_marker4.ogg http://opengameart.org/content/steam-release-sounds "Spacey 1up/powerup" by Game Audio (CC0) powerup.ogg https://www.freesound.org/people/GameAudio/sounds/220173/
