Dark Physics - licence ====================== Dark Physics is a point-and-click story game by mit-mit, made for PyWeek 36 (March 2023, theme "Dark Matter"). This site serves the original entry from the PyWeek archive: https://s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/media.pyweek.org/36/mit-mit-36/dark_physics_pyweek36_v1.zip sha256 fb4b68ec41811b3c7bf4bc826629973fe6eef86746def59d875b3ad91295cb9c (entry page: https://pyweek.org/e/mit-mit-36/; retrieved 2026-11-04) The licence sentence in the README of that zip reads, exactly: "Licence: All of the artwork and code for this game (excepting those listed below) is CC0 (free to use in whatever manner you see fit, attribution not required)" The README also says "Game Design/Programming/Artwork/Voice: mit-mit (made during the competition)" and "No AI was harmed (or used) in the production of this game". The exceptions it lists, reproduced in the README below, are two music tracks under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), used unchanged: "Theremin" by rap2h (https://freesound.org/people/rap2h/sounds/151312/) and "Escape Velocity" by Scott Buckley (https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/escape-velocity/); and five CC0 sounds from freesound.org. What this site serves: the dark-physics.pgapp built by Builds/build-dark-physics.sh from that zip, with the change published as web.patch next to the source: the main loop became asynchronous (a pygbag requirement), Esc on the title screen does nothing, and the game's main.py became src/dp_main.py. The game saves nothing. No artwork, sound, voice or music was altered. The game runs on pygame-ce (LGPL-2.1) and CPython 3.12 compiled by the pygbag project; their licences and source are on the site's Licenses page. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ README.txt (from the game) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================= “Dark Physics“ ================= PyWeek 36 Entry for theme “Dark Matter” (https://pyweek.org/36/) Solo entry by mit-mit ============= Requirements: ============= Python 3 pip install pygame ================= Running the game: ================= Open a terminal/console/shell, "cd" to the game directory and run the command python run_game.py ================ Playing the game ================ Background Story: Prof. Knight's research on dark matter takes a shocking twist as strange event unfold on the University campus. ========= Controls: ========= Point and click with the mouse! ======= Credits ======= Game Design/Programming/Artwork/Voice: mit-mit (made during the competition) Licence: All of the artwork and code for this game (excepting those listed below) is CC0 (free to use in whatever manner you see fit, attribution not required) No AI was harmed (or used) in the production of this game :P Other content of the game was plundered from various open sources: ======= Music: "Theremin" by rap2h (CC-BY-4.0) https://freesound.org/people/rap2h/sounds/151312/ "Escape Velocity" by Scott Buckley (CC-BY-4.0) https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/escape-velocity/ ======= Sounds: "Crowd in Panic" (CC-0) by "IENBA" https://freesound.org/people/IENBA/sounds/491405/ "Girl Screaming" (CC-0) by "tomattka" https://freesound.org/people/tomattka/sounds/400181/ "Crowd Laughing" (CC0) by "deleted_user_2104797" https://freesound.org/people/deleted_user_2104797/sounds/324894/ "Crowd Laugh" (cc0) by "sagetyrtle" https://freesound.org/people/sagetyrtle/sounds/76693/ "Applause" (cc0) by "sandermotions" https://freesound.org/people/Sandermotions/sounds/277022/
