About the game
Gin rummy is a two-player card game of melds. Each player holds ten cards and tries to arrange them into sets of three or four of a kind, or runs of three or more cards in a row of one suit. Cards left outside melds are deadwood, and their value counts against you: aces are one, court cards ten and the rest their number. Each turn you draw from the stock or take the top of the pile, then discard one card.
When your deadwood is ten or less you can knock and end the hand; with none at all it is gin, and a bonus. If your rival knocks, you can lay off cards on their melds, and an undercut gives the win to the lower hand. You play against an AI at a level you can choose. It is one of a set of small card games written by the author of Chogan with the help of AI tools; the cards are drawn by the code and the sounds are generated while you play.
Playing it here
Click Play and start a match. On your turn, click the stock (the face-down pile) or the upcard to draw, then click a card in your hand and press Discard. The Arrange button groups your hand into the best melds for you. When the deadwood number shows 10 or less, Knock becomes available; with zero it says Gin.

A few things worth knowing
Throw away high cards early. Deadwood is scored by value, so face cards hurt.
Watch what your rival picks up. The cards they take show the melds they are building.
Do not knock at once. Sometimes waiting for gin or a safer knock pays more.
Credits and licence
Gin Rummy is part of Chogan by Chogan (choganhq), published under the MIT licence. The repository was written with the help of AI, and this page says so openly. Everything is drawn by the code and the sounds are generated on the fly; the only font is Vazirmatn (SIL Open Font License 1.1). The licence texts are linked from this page. We took out the app shell: this game opens on its own, with no app menu, sharing or league points, the language follows the site's (the Portuguese was translated by us) and nothing is requested from other sites.
