About the game

Infinite Cars is an endless driving game seen from above. Your red car speeds along a straight road with grass, trees and flowers on both sides, and the traffic never ends: orange cones sit in the lanes, and other cars, some slow and some fast, share the road with you. There is no finish line and no goal other than staying on the road as long as you can. The score counts up while you drive, and the best one is kept for the next try.

The other cars are not just obstacles. They have a light bit of artificial intelligence and try to steer around the cones, so the road keeps changing in ways you have to read. Overtaking a car or speeding up has its own sound, and a crash ends the run with a small explosion.

It was made by Takane Ichinose, who describes it as the first game made with a game engine, the Phaser framework. The pixel-art images were drawn in Aseprite and the sound effects were made in the LMMS music program. It is a short, simple game for a few minutes of play.

Playing it here

Click Play, then click or tap the game to start. After a short countdown, drag the red car to the left or to the right to steer, using the mouse or your finger. There are no other controls. When you crash, click again to try once more. The speaker icon in the top right corner turns the sound off. Your best score is stored in your browser only.

Tips

Look ahead, not at the car. Cones come from the top of the screen, so watch the road in front of you and move early.

Do not trust the traffic blindly. The other cars dodge obstacles, but not perfectly, so keep a gap behind slow ones.

Short moves. A small drag is enough to change lane, and big swings put you in front of the next cone.

FAQ

Can I play on a phone? Yes. The game is made for a portrait screen and fits any size.

Is my score saved? Your best score is saved in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
