About the game
The maze in Micronaut is made of rooms, and the rooms contain blocks, and the blocks are rooms too. You play a very small explorer who walks and jumps through the first room. When you run into one of the coloured blocks, you shrink and step inside it, and you find yourself in another full-size room, with its own blocks, its own corners and its own exits. Leave through an exit and you come out in the room that held the block, on the side where you left it.
That is the whole trick, and it is what the game is built on. Rooms contain each other in loops: one room holds a block that is another room, which in turn holds a block that is the first one. So there is no map to draw. You find your way by remembering which door leads where, and by understanding that going into a block and coming out the other side is how you get past a wall that would stop you in the room you were in. A small stack of jumps, a few ledges and some careful route-finding are all you need.
It was made by William Lundstedt (Healthire) in Rust, with his own small engine, for Ludum Dare 48, whose theme was "Deeper and deeper", which fits a game about going into rooms inside rooms.
Playing it here
The game runs in the page and needs a keyboard. Click Click to play and the music starts with the first room. It does not save. The download is about 1 MB, mostly the music loop; a note icon at the top left of the game switches the music off if you prefer.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|

Tips
Walk into the blocks. That is how you go deeper. Look at where you come out, since it tells you which exit of the inner room is which door of the outer one.
Learn the colours. The blocks are coloured, and the same colour is always the same room, wherever it appears.
Jump early. You can walk off a ledge and then jump, which gives you a little more distance across a gap.

FAQ
The game does not react to the keys. Click on the game once so that the page has the keyboard focus.
Where did my explorer go? When you walk into a block you shrink into it; it is not a bug, it is the game.
Can I turn the music off? Yes, click the note at the top left.
