About the game
Out Of Office is a survival shooter set in a meadow that something grey is trying to erase. Greys climb out of inkwells in waves, and every step they take drains the colour under their feet and leaves black ash. You are a unicorn with a prism for a horn, so each shot splits into seven bands that spread like light through glass: red bullets are slow and short-ranged, violet ones are fast and far.
The meadow itself is a resource. On ash you move at half speed and the greys move faster, so a drained patch becomes a trap, while kills and dying shots paint the ground back. Between waves you level up and pick one of three perk cards, pickups change the horn to a single band with its own behaviour, and bosses made of office supplies (a censor, an eraser, a stapler, a stamp, a shredder and a photocopier) turn up as the run goes on.
Raimon Ràfols made it for js13kGames 2026. There are no image, audio or font files at all: the pixels, the music and the words are generated by the code.
Playing it here
Click Play, choose a difficulty on the title screen and press any key. Keep moving, hold fire, and use Blink to get out of a circle of greys. The ASH figure at the bottom shows how much of the field has been drained; if you let it climb, everything gets harder. Nothing is saved between visits.

A few things worth knowing
Do not fight on ash. You are slowed there and the greys are not. Pull back to clean ground and let your shots repaint it.
Blink is for escaping, not for approaching. It recharges slowly, so keep a charge for when you are surrounded.
Read the perk cards. Each one has its own rarity, and the same perk can be much stronger on a rare roll.
