About the game
A small square pin sits near the top of a pale screen, and a short cord spins around it like the hand of a clock. More pins drift down from above, and the whole picture keeps scrolling slowly toward the bottom. Your job is to climb: stretch the cord until its tip touches another pin, and you let go of the old one and start swinging around the new one. The longer the jump, the more points it is worth.
The tension is all in the timing. The cord rotates by itself and only grows while you hold the button, so you wait until it points at a pin you can reach, hold until the grab happens, and let go. The higher you climb, the faster things get, and a pin that slides off the bottom of the screen takes your run with it.
Pin Climb is one of the one-button mini-games that Kenta Cho, who works as ABA Games, makes with his crisp-game-lib library. There are no image or sound files: the graphics are drawn by the code, and the sound effects and music are generated while you play.
Playing it here
Click Play, then click, tap or press Space inside the game to start; the title screen shows the controls. The current score is at the top left and the best score of the session at the top right. Nothing is installed or sent anywhere. The best score at the top right is only remembered while the page stays open.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Hold (mouse, touch or Space) | stretch the cord |
| Release | pull the cord back |
A few things worth knowing
Hold only when a pin is in line. The cord keeps spinning while it grows, so a long stretch at the wrong angle misses and leaves you low.
Go for the far pins. The score depends on the length of the jump, so one long, well-timed stretch beats several short hops.
Stay near the top. Pins that leave through the bottom never come back, and your run ends if the one you hold goes with them.
