About the game

A sickness has reached the town of Corinium, and it travels on the backs of rats. You are the princess, and you are the only one who can do anything about it. Walk around the pixel-art streets, gather coins and potions, and treat the villagers before the sickness spreads to everyone.

The rats go looking for villagers. A villager who spots one runs away and only comes back when it is safe, but if a rat catches up, the villager falls ill. A sick villager leaves a trail of coloured drops, red, green or blue, and that colour tells you which potion helps: you need the one that matches, and a white potion works on anyone. There are enemies that chase you when you get too close, and shy characters that run off when you approach. Houses can be entered, some rooms have stairs to other floors, some doors stay locked until you find the key, and the Wizard's shop is worth a visit. To finish a level you collect every coin, potion and treasure chest, and keep enough villagers healthy.

picosonic made Princess of Corinium for js13kGames 2023, whose theme was "13th Century". The art is from Kenney's Tiny Town and Tiny Dungeon packs, and the game has no music.

Click Play, then click or tap on the game where you want the princess to go. She finds the best route around obstacles by herself. Nothing is saved between visits.

Controls

Input Action
Mouse click, or a tap on a touchscreen walk to that spot (and pick things up on the way)

A few things worth knowing

Match the colour. Look at the drops, then at your potions. Keep the white one for an emergency, since it cures any colour.

Keep your distance. The enemies that chase you hurt when they reach you, so lead them away before you stop to do something else.

Use the keys and the shop. Some buildings only open with a key, and the Wizard's shop is there to be used.
