About the game
Rooftop Rescue is a small arcade game about a rescue helicopter. People appear on the rooftops of the city and need to be lifted to safety. You fly over them, lower the rope just far enough for them to grab it, and carry them away, scoring a point for every rescue.
It is all about control: the helicopter drifts, the rope swings and the rooftops are at different heights. Keep an eye on the sky as well, because the helicopter is not alone up there. The best score is kept between games.
Playing it here
This is a homebrew game made for the Arduboy, the open, credit-card-sized handheld with a tiny black-and-white screen: a new game by an independent developer, not a commercial release. It runs here in Ardens, an Arduboy emulator compiled to WebAssembly. Click Play now and press Z to start.
Your best score stays in this browser automatically. F2 also saves the full state of the emulator and F4 brings it back. A gamepad works too. The menu is in English.
Controls
| Key | Arduboy button | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Left / Right | D-pad | fly the helicopter |
| Up / Down | D-pad | pull in / let out the rope |
| Z | A | start the game; choose in the menu |
| X | B | open or close the menu (sound, start or end game, reset, credits) |
| F2 / F4 | — | save / load the emulator state |
A few things worth knowing
Short rope, fewer accidents. Let the rope out only when you are right above someone, and pull it back in before flying on.
Higher roofs are quicker. A rooftop close to the helicopter needs less rope, so you can pick people up faster.
Reset means reset. The Reset option in the menu clears the saved best score.
