About the game
Scalpel Spin is a surgery show that takes itself far too seriously. A cheerful commentator in a purple bow tie talks you through every operation, a studio audience applauds, and you are the surgeon holding the scalpel. The operations are completely cartoon: the patient is a little pixel-art organ with a worried face, the scalpel leaves a trail of confetti, and the worst that happens is a sad "ouch" and a lost heart.
The twist is in how you cut. You do not steer the blade. You press the big green Spin button, and the scalpel starts circling the operating area, picking up speed. Press the button again at the right moment and it stops, turns toward the organ and slices in a straight line across the screen. Your goal is to make that cut follow a guide line while staying clear of the things that must not be hit: balloons, flowers, hearts and ice-cream cones floating around the organ. It is a game of timing and nerve, and the commentator is not shy about telling you when you got it wrong ("You do know you're supposed to cut around that, right?").
It was made by Wandering Door Games for "The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam" of 2026, and it has a short run of three operations, with a health meter on the right that empties every time the blade strikes something it shouldn't.
Playing it here
Click Play and wait a moment while the game loads (about 11 MB, downloaded only when you press the button). Click inside the game once so that it receives the keyboard. From the menu choose Play; the short introduction has a Skip button. During an operation press Space (or click the green Spin button) to start the scalpel spinning, and press it again to make the cut.
There are no save slots. Sound is on, with a lot of applause and a heartbeat.
Controls
| Input | Action |

Tips
Watch the whole circle. The blade turns on the spot, so you can wait for the angle you want and press the button as it passes over the guide line.
Look at the obstacles first. The balloons, flowers and hearts drift around the organ; a clear lane is worth waiting a lap for.
Do not rush the second press. The scalpel needs a moment to slow down before it cuts, so press a little before the angle you want, not on it.
Keep your hearts. The red meter on the right is your health; every wrong cut drains it.
FAQ
Is it gory? No. It is a cartoon: a pixel-art organ with a face, confetti and a lost heart when you slip. Nothing realistic, and no blood.
Does it work on a phone? It can be clicked with a finger, but it was made for a keyboard and mouse, so it is best on a computer.
Is it free to share? Yes. The code is under the GNU Affero GPL, the artwork and sounds under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0, and the fonts under the SIL Open Font License.
