About the game

Twin Vector is a fixed-screen shooter in the early-1980s style where the playfield is two layers of lanes, one above the other. You guard the transport lines by moving along five lanes and, with a press up or down, switching your ship and the shots that have not yet been sent across to the other layer. A shot sent over from the other layer lands between an enemy's shield and its body, which is how you destroy it.

The game has nine sectors of formations, six kinds of ordinary enemy and three big ones, and a top-five table with initials entry at the end of the run. You start with three ships, and extra ones come at 15,000 points and every 20,000 after that. The pseudo-3D look narrows the lanes toward the back and scales the sprites with distance.

Switching has a short grace window, so a tap just before a hit still counts, and the game pauses by itself when you leave the tab.

Input Action

Up / W, Down / S switch layer
Space, Enter, Z, X fire (hold to autofire)
P, M pause, mute

A few things worth knowing

Use both layers. A shot that starts in one layer and finishes in the other is what gets past the shield.

Time the switch. Switch a moment before the shot crosses, not after.

Look for the big ones. The three large enemies need several hits, so keep a lane clear.

Questions

Does it work on a phone? The keyboard is the main way to play; the touch controls are basic and untested on real devices.

Does the ranking go online? No, it is kept in your browser only.
