About the game

Six floors of platforms, with gaps, scroll past a small square-faced figure who stays near the left of the screen. You have only one move: a tap climbs up to the floor above. Everything else happens by itself, and one of the things that happens is falling: whenever a hole in the floor slides under your feet you drop to the floor below. You can go up as often as you like, but going down is up to the holes.

On the platforms are small yellow triangles to pick up, one point each, and red spinning creatures that end the game if they touch you. A red creature is only dangerous on the floor it is on, so the whole game is about being on a different floor from them at the right moment, whether by tapping to climb or by letting a hole take you down. Now and then a power-up appears. Pick it up and every red creature on the screen turns into a triangle that you can collect.

Up 1 Way is one of the mini-games that Kenta Cho, who works as ABA Games, makes with his crisp-game-lib library. There are no image or sound files: the graphics are drawn by the code, and the sound effects and music are generated while you play.

A few things worth knowing

Watch the floor above. A tap takes you up at once, so only tap when the spot above you is free of red creatures.

Use the holes. A hole is a free ride down, which is often the safest way to dodge a red creature coming along your floor.

Grab the power-up. It turns all the red creatures into points, which is the quickest way to get a high score.
