About the game

Warp Station 13K is an odd, calm arcade game. You fly a small round cleaning ship, a sort of space vacuum cleaner, inside the walls of a giant station whose streets, towers and pipes are drawn in dotted black and white, as if printed in a newspaper. The city is made by the code, so there is a lot of it to explore, and it is dirty: debris is spread all over it, and your job is to pick it up.

You steer with the mouse, speed up with the left button and slow down with the right one. Swallowing debris gives points and builds a combo multiplier with a timer, and flying fast, and keeping the city clean, adds more multipliers. Bumping into walls costs you part of the combo. Each level asks for a set number of points. When you reach it you earn an upgrade point that you can spend in the menu on a larger collection radius, quicker acceleration and braking, sharper turning, a longer combo timer, a higher starting combo or a smaller loss when you crash.

The author made the game, the generator of the city, the ship and the sound for js13kGames 2021, in 13 KB, with a tiny WebGL2 mini-framework of his own, and released it into the public domain.

Playing it here

Click Play, then click inside the picture: the browser captures the mouse, and the ship starts to move. Press Space to leave the game and open the menu, where you can spend upgrade points, start a new game, reset the ship to its start position and save or load the game in a slot (the game also saves by itself). The saves stay in this browser. It needs a mouse with two buttons and WebGL2.

Controls

Input Action

A few things worth knowing

Think about the combo. The points per piece go up while the timer runs, so look for dense piles of debris and chain them.

Upgrades reset the combo. Changing the upgrades in the menu sets the combo to zero, so do it between runs.

Slow down to turn. In narrow streets, a bit of braking is better than a crash.
