About the game
In Astral Pilgrimage of Sound you pilot a small spaceship through a system of planets, and your only instrument is a directional radio. Every planet quietly broadcasts a sound, and the strongest signal comes from the direction your antenna points to. Somewhere out there, sets of three aligned planets (one of stone, one of wood and one covered in green) are the sources of the Songs of Orpheus, four pieces of planetary music waiting to be heard.
The job is to find them. You steer the ship, turn it to aim the antenna and listen: when a signal is strong enough, a circular light glows on the console, and when all three planets of a set are tuned in at once, you hear their song and its crystal on the dashboard fills with music and changes colour. Hear all four songs and the pilgrimage is complete.
The whole game is built around sound. The music is made of layers (drums, bass and melody) that fade in and out as you swing the antenna across the sky, so searching for a song feels like tuning an old radio. It looks dark and a bit strange on purpose: the cockpit uses photographed textures of real surfaces, the text on the guide is in green terminal letters and the space outside is full of glowing suns and tiny moons. Be careful not to fly into a planet, and do not wander too far from the system either.
Playing it here
Click Play and wait while the game loads (about 43 MB, downloaded only when you press the button). Click Begin Pilgrimage on the title screen and then click Take Yoke on the console to grab the mouse; the mouse then turns the ship. Press Esc to let go of the mouse. The guide on the left of the cockpit explains the controls in five pages, and you can turn them with P and N. Headphones help a lot, since the game is about listening.

Tips
Use the samples. The keys 1 to 4 play a snippet of each song, so you know what you are looking for before you start searching.
Look for the sets of three. A song only fills when the stone, the wood and the green planet of that set are all in range at the same time, so line them up.
Stay in the system. Collisions with planets and flying too far from the centre end the pilgrimage.
