About the game
Biniax-2 is built on one rule. The board is full of pairs of coloured elements, and you control a single element of your own. You can step onto a pair only if one of its two halves matches your element; when you take it, the pair disappears and your element becomes the other half. Every move therefore changes which pairs you can reach next, and a careless one can leave you with no way out.
Meanwhile the board keeps coming. New rows enter from the top and push everything down, and the game ends when you can no longer stay on the field. Taking pairs scores points, and a limited number of clears lets you wipe out a whole column when you are trapped. Obstacles appear as the game goes on and narrow the paths further.
The author describes the series as "a minute to learn, hours to play", and as a game without kills, violence or weapons.
Game modes
Arcade. The board scrolls down on a timer that gets faster as you progress, so you think and move at the same time. The clears you have left are shown at the right.
Tactic. Time does not matter here. The board moves down after you spend a certain number of moves, shown by the counter at the right, so every turn is a small planning problem.
Multiplayer. Two players on the same keyboard share an arcade board; the one who stays longer wins.
Continue last game. Leaving a single-player game with Escape saves it, and this option picks it up again.
Playing it here
This is version 1.30 of Biniax-2, the latest, compiled for the browser from the source package published by its author. The download is about 4 MB, and your high scores and saved game stay in this browser. One of the game's eight music tracks is not included (see the license page), so the other tracks play during games. The game is in English and needs a keyboard.

Tips
Look two moves ahead. Before taking a pair, check what you will turn into and which pairs of that colour are within reach.
Stay away from the bottom. New rows push you down; keeping some space below you gives you time to find a way out.
Keep a clear for emergencies. A clear removes a whole column, which is often the only escape when you are boxed in.
In Tactic, count the moves. Watch the move counter and use the last moves before the board drops to get into a safe position.
