About the game

Button football is the pocket version of a game many people played on a kitchen table with buttons or coins. You see a pitch from above. You have five red discs and a goal to defend; the other side has its own. On your turn you flick one disc, and everything bounces: discs, ball and boards. The first side to reach the goal count wins, and if the turns run out with the score level, a golden goal decides it.

It is one of a set of small card, board and sports games written by the author of Chogan with the help of AI tools. The pitch is drawn by the code and the sounds are generated while you play.

Playing it here

Click Play, pick Against the bot or Two players, then start the match. Put your finger or the mouse on one of your red discs, pull back and let go: the disc flies the other way. When everything stops it is the other side's turn. The gear lets you set how many goals win the match.

Controls

Input Action
Pull back from a disc, release Flick it
Tab Pick the next disc
Left / Right arrows (Shift for finer) Turn the aim
Up / Down arrows Set the power
Space or Enter Flick

A few things worth knowing

Use the boards. Banked shots are harder for the bot to block.

Watch your own goal. An own goal counts for the other side.

Short pulls for short passes. Power follows how far you pull back.

Credits and licence

Button Football is part of Chogan by Chogan (choganhq), published under the MIT licence. The repository was written with the help of AI, and this page says so openly. Everything is drawn by the code and the sounds are generated on the fly; the only font is Vazirmatn (SIL Open Font License 1.1). The licence texts are linked from this page. We took out the app shell: this game opens on its own, with no app menu, sharing or league points, the language follows the site's (the Portuguese was translated by us) and nothing is requested from other sites.
