About the game
Chess Comp Stomp with Hacks starts by telling you the truth: you are playing a powerful chess AI, you are not a great chess player, and you are an elite hacker. So the way to win is not to out-calculate the computer but to cheat.
Before every round you spend hack points on hacks that change the game in your favour. Some are on the board (an extra pawn, an extra queen, a pawn boost, upgraded knights and queen, a tactical nuke), others bend the rules (super castling, super en passant, rooks that move diagonally, no stalemate, mandatory captures and sacrificial pawns). Hacks cost points and you start with only a few. You earn more by winning games and by completing objectives, such as winning in at most 25 moves, winning with five queens on the board, delivering checkmate with a knight or promoting a piece to a bishop. Every round you choose a new combination of hacks and go back to the board.
Playing it here
Click Play, press Begin, pick your hacks and continue to the objectives screen, and then Start next round. The computer runs inside the page, so its moves can take a few seconds. Your hacks, points and objectives are kept in your browser only; nothing is sent anywhere.

A few things worth knowing
Start with the cheap hacks. An extra pawn or a pawn boost costs little and helps every game.
Objectives are worth hack points. Pick the one that fits the game you are already playing.
The AI is strong at plain chess. Make the hacks do the work.
Questions
Can I really beat the computer? Yes, but only with hacks: the game is built around that.
Does it work on a phone? Yes, tap a piece and then its destination.
Credits and licence
Chess Comp Stomp with Hacks was made by dtsudo and is published under the MIT licence. The game is compiled from C# to JavaScript with Bridge.NET (Apache-2.0). The chess pieces are by Cburnett (BSD), the images and sound effects are by Kenney (CC0), the music is by Juhani Junkala (CC0) and the fonts are from metaflop (SIL Open Font License). The licence texts are in the licence file linked from this page, and the source code (with our small changes) is hosted next to the game. We changed four things: a policy that stops the page from loading anything from other sites, the link to the author's GitHub page (it does nothing here), the browser-save keys, which get a prefix so they do not clash with other games, and the sound and music file names, which the game asked for in a format the repository does not include, so it now loads the Ogg files that are there.
