About the game

Dewdrop Farm starts with a patch of grass, a hoe and 500 coins. You buy seeds, till the soil, plant, and then water every day so that the crops can grow. When they are ripe you harvest them and sell them at the market. The days run on their own, and the date in the corner moves from one season to the next, which decides what can grow. The bunny that hops around the field is there mostly to be petted. Prices on the market go up and down, so a careful player can sell at the right time, and with enough coins there are new tools to buy, and finally a cow, who must be fed, and whose mess has to be shovelled.

The whole game was drawn by the author in a small palette of friendly colours and fits in the 13 KB limit of js13kGames 2020. It works with the mouse and with touch, and the four screens (Farm, Buy, Sell and Info) are always one tap away.

Playing it here

Click Play and the farm opens at once. Pick a slot at the bottom (the hoe comes first), click a patch of grass to till it, then pick the seeds and plant them. The game keeps your farm in the browser, so you can come back to it later. The screen is a tall column made for a phone; on a computer it sits in the middle of the frame.

A few things worth knowing

Water every day. Crops that are not watered do not grow. The sprinkler you can buy later waters the eight plots around it, which saves a lot of clicking.

Watch the season. Each crop belongs to some seasons, and a crop sells for less when it is out of season, so plan what you plant around the date.

Sell with care. Prices change. If a crop is cheap today, it may be better to keep it for another day.

The crops, land, water drops, fertilizer, wildflower seeds and dead crops are edits of work by josehzz, who released the originals into the public domain (CC0). The bunny, cow, coins and sprinkler are edits of sprites from the DawnLike tileset by DragonDePlatino (CC BY 4.0, credit to DawnBringer, who made the palette it uses). The hoe is inspired by tools in the 32x32 Fantasy Tileset by Jerom and is licensed under the same CC BY-SA 3.0.
