About the game

Entangolf takes the quiet idea of mini-golf and ties it in knots. Most holes put more than one ball on the green, and a single swing moves all of them at the same time. Each ball has its own hole, and each one is hit at its own angle: the shot you aim is reflected, rotated or mirrored for the others. A swing that sinks one ball cleanly can send its partner into a corner, so the trick is to find the one direction that works for everybody.

There are thirteen holes. They start with a single ball and a straight shot, then add a second ball, solid walls around the green and, on some holes, walls that you place yourself. Every hole has its own colour for the background and the buttons, and a large number behind the action tells you where you are. Sink every ball and the holes light up in a shower of confetti before the next one opens.

Matt McKenna made Entangolf for js13kGames 2024, where the whole game had to fit in 13 KB. Everything on screen is drawn by code, and the short sound effects are tiny songs composed with the SoundBox tracker.

Playing it here

Click Play, then click anywhere on the board to wake the game up and start with hole 1. Press and drag on the green to aim: the longer the drag, the harder the shot, and the numbers at the top show the angle and the power. Let go to hit. The balls roll until they stop or fall in, and if they stop without all of them sunk, the hole restarts by itself. Nothing is saved between visits, but you can jump to any hole with Previous and Next.

A few things worth knowing

Read the whole green first. A ball that looks easy may be the one that decides the angle, because the others copy its swing in their own way.

Use the hint arrow to learn, then turn it off. The dotted arrow shows the direction the first ball wants. It is a good way to see how the other balls react before you start trying shots of your own.

Walls are tools, not obstacles. On the holes that let you place them, a wall at the right angle can turn a hopeless ball around. The number at the top shows the angle of the wall you are holding.
