About the game

A tiny figure called Foosan has to cross a long corridor that is closed in by a red ceiling and a red floor and full of floating red balloons. A counter at the bottom left shows how many metres are left, starting at 999 and going down to zero. Touching a balloon, the ceiling or the floor does not end the game: it freezes, and two buttons appear, Rewind and Give Up. Hold Rewind to wind time back and try that stretch again; Give Up ends the run.

You control it with a single button. A tap gives a little hop upward, and holding makes Foosan float and move forward, and at the same time it blows the balloons away from it, the harder the closer they are. Pressing and holding is how you push through a crowd; letting go is how you drop through a gap that has opened between the balloons. Because the balloons bounce off each other and off the walls, the corridor changes all the time and no two crossings look the same.

Foosan is one of the one-button games that Kenta Cho, who works as ABA Games, makes with his crisp-game-lib library. It has no image or sound files: the graphics are drawn by the code and the music and the effects are generated while you play.

Playing it here

Click Play, then click, tap or press Space inside the game to start. The distance left is shown at the bottom left and the time at the top left. When you reach the goal the game says so; after that, tap to play again. The best score is only remembered while the page stays open. Nothing is installed or sent anywhere.

Controls

Input Action
Tap (click, touch or Space) hop upward
Hold fly forward and push the balloons away

A few things worth knowing

Do not hold all the time. Holding makes Foosan float, so you drift away from the floor but also toward the ceiling; short taps give you more control.

Balloons are pushed harder when they are close. Press right before you reach a balloon to send it out of the way.

After a rewind, change something. The balloons you left behind drift on their own, so a slightly different move at the same spot can open a gap that was not there before.

Credits and licence

Foosan was made by Kenta Cho (ABA Games) and published under the MIT licence in the crisp-game-lib-games repository. It runs on crisp-game-lib and sounds-some-sounds, by the same author, with pixi.js, pixi-filters and lodash.clonedeep (all MIT) for its look and its rewinding. The licence texts are linked from this page. The game file is served as published, with only the starting page replaced so that nothing is loaded from other sites.
