About the game
Godog is a small 3D game about a sled dog. A far-off village needs healing herbs, and you are the dog that has to deliver them. The sled slides down a long snowy slope under a pink evening sky, between snow-covered trees, rocks and mounds, and your job is to steer, pick up the three herbs on the way down and not crash.
The sled is a real physics vehicle, so it slides, bounces and sometimes flips. If the dog ends up stuck or upside down, press R to put it back on its feet (press it again a few times to back out of a really bad spot). The game opens with a short hand-drawn story told in a few pictures, inspired by the Sámi culture of northern Scandinavia, and shows a closing picture when the run ends. A bark button, B, is there just for fun.
The game was made by a team of eight people in two days, for the Nordic Game Jam of 2023, so it is short and simple. It has a lot of charm for its size: soft painted art, a calm tune while you ride and a slide sound that follows your speed.
Playing it here
Click Play and wait while the game loads (about 32 MB, downloaded only when you press the button). Press Play on the title screen, watch the story or press Esc to skip it, and then steer with A and D while holding W to build up speed. The game is a 3D scene, so a computer with a graphics card gives the best frame rate.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| A D or left / right arrows | steer |
| W or Up | speed up |
| S or Down | slow down |
| R | stand the dog back up when stuck |
| B | bark |
| Esc | pause (it also skips the intro) |
Tips
Steer gently. Short, soft taps on A and D keep the sled on the snow; hard turns at speed make it flip.
Slow down on the mounds. Easing off with S before a bump keeps the sled from launching, and the herbs are easier to grab.
Use R. If the sled is on its side, R is faster than waiting; pressing it several times backs the dog up a little.
FAQ
How long does it take to play? A few minutes. It was made in two days for a game jam, so it is a short ride.
Does it work on a phone? It needs a keyboard, so it is meant for computers.

Changes made for this site: the renderer is the browser-friendly Compatibility mode, the window starts in normal mode instead of full screen, the Quit buttons are hidden because quitting only freezes a browser page, and the font of the menu buttons is replaced by Lilita One (SIL Open Font License), because the original font has no clear licence. Nothing else in the game was changed.
