About the game

A climber is stuck in an inner tube and the only way out is up. Each level is a single icy screen full of ledges, snow platforms and slippery walls, and you bounce from one to the next until you reach the top. The tube makes you move in a floaty, slightly out-of-control way, which is the whole challenge: a jump that looked easy can slide off the edge.

Before you start you pick a difficulty (Hard, Harder or Hardest), and the game keeps a score and a rank for each level so you can try to beat your own numbers. The art is crisp pixel art in cold blues and the music is a small set of chiptune loops. It began as a Ludum Dare 47 jam game (theme: "Stuck in a loop") and was polished afterwards.

Playing it here

Click Play and wait for the page to load (about 14 MB, downloaded only when you press the button), press the start button and pick a difficulty. The version here is built from the source code, with the analytics, the terms-and-privacy page and the support links removed so that the game never talks to any other server, and with the web start that the author had left switched off turned on.

Controls

Input Action
Left / Right arrows or A / D move
Up, W, Space or X jump
Mouse on the screen zones left zone jumps, right zone slides sideways

Tips

Do not rush the jump. The tube keeps its momentum, so line up before you leave the ledge.

Use the walls. Bouncing off a side wall is often the way to reach a ledge that looks too far.

Start on Hard. It is the gentlest setting; the next two are much stricter.
