About the game
You are a small cyan block running along a floor that scrolls past on the left. Red blocks come from the right, one at a time, in towers, and in drifting rings, and they keep getting faster the longer you play. While you are in the air you leave a thin blue beam hanging below you, and every red block that touches the beam disappears and gives you points. The first block you clear in a jump is worth one point, the second two, the third three, and so on, until you land and the count starts over.
So the game is about staying up as long as you can. One tap jumps, a second tap in the air gives you a double jump, and a third tap throws you straight down, which is useful for dropping the beam through a tower of blocks you would rather not touch. Touching a red block does not end the run. The game freezes and two buttons appear, Rewind and Give Up. Hold Rewind and time winds back for as long as you keep pressing, so you can go as far back as you like, let go, and carry on from that moment. Give Up ends the run.
Jump and Laser is one of the two games in Kenta Cho's "rewinders" set, small games where undoing time is part of the play. Like the rest of his work it has no image or sound files: the graphics are drawn by the code and the sound effects are generated while you play. The background song that the original page played was left out of this copy, so the game is accompanied only by its sound effects.

Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Tap (click, touch or Space) | jump; again in the air: double jump; a third time: dive |
| Hold (on the Rewind button, after a hit) | wind time back |
A few things worth knowing
Jump over the towers, or dive through them. The beam only clears what it touches, so a high jump followed by a dive wipes a whole column in one go.
Chain the kills before you land. The multiplier grows with every block you clear in the same jump, so one long jump is worth much more than three short ones.
A hit is not the end. The rewind gives you another try, but it also takes back the points you made in the time you rewound.
Credits and licence
Jump and Laser was made by Kenta Cho (ABA Games) and published under the MIT licence in the rewinders repository. It runs on the crisp-game-lib and sounds-some-sounds libraries by the same author (MIT), together with pixi.js and pixi-filters (MIT) for its glowing look and lodash.clonedeep (MIT). The licence texts are linked from this page. The files are the ones the author published, with two changes: the background song (an audio file with no licence of its own in the repository) is not included, and the starting page loads the libraries from the game folder instead of from other sites.
