About the game
A road runs along the shore of the Glimmersea, past a row of old brick warehouses. One of them is the Feline Industries Recycling Center, with a door cut into the bay doors and a smaller one cut into that for a cat. A T-shaped jetty leads out to a lighthouse. Far to the north there is a small town, but the way there keeps stretching, and the only trace on the path is a line of paw prints.
Kitty and the Sea is a short piece you read by clicking. You wander from the waterfront into the plant, up the spiral stairs into the rafters, out to the jetty and back, and a click on certain words opens a little more of what is there: a counter with a calculating machine, bins of discarded parts, a bedroom up the stairs. Small abstract drawings appear along the way. Nothing is solved and nobody is rescued. It is about a place where the good days are over, and what is left in it.
Felix Pleșoianu wrote it in 2019 by building a story out of two old areas of a text-based virtual world and rewriting them.
Playing it here
Click Play now. On the title page, First page starts the story and Edition notice shows the author's licence. In every passage, underlined words are links; some reveal more text on the same page and some take you to another place. Back at the top right goes back one step, and Restart at the bottom starts again. There is no save: the story is short enough to read in one sitting.
A few things worth knowing
Click everything. The text that reveals itself often matters more than the passage you land on.
It is not a puzzle. There is no inventory and nothing to win; wandering quietly is the point.
Links to other sites open in a new tab. The edition notice names the tools the story was made with.
