About the game

A caravan is crossing the desert toward the city of Acre, with an escort of knights. You must stop it before it gets there. You have your own knights, a bow and exactly twenty arrows, so every shot has to count.

The game is played in three dimensions, over a flat sand-coloured desert under a hazy sky, with a few houses and towers on the horizon. You see your knight on horseback from behind. Move him with the keyboard, hold the right mouse button to raise the bow and aim, and click to shoot. You do not control just one knight: you can switch to another of your riders at any moment and shoot with him instead, so the fight is part positioning and part choosing who has the best angle. The number of arrows left is shown as a row of white strokes in the corner. The goal is to kill all the knights of the caravan and the caravan itself.

Javi Agenjo made Knights of Acre for js13kGames 2023, where the whole game had to fit in 13 KB. He used his own tiny 3D library, microgl.js, and drew the horses, riders and houses as little models of his own. He writes that he ran out of space and had to cut content, and that the gameplay suffered; it is a short, rough and handsome game for a few minutes.

A few things worth knowing

Twenty arrows go quickly. Let the caravan come into range instead of shooting at long distance.

Switch knights. A different rider may have a clearer line.

There is no touch control. The game needs a keyboard and a mouse.
