About the game
The hero of Little Green Blob is made of goo, and goo wears away. Each step the blob takes along the ground leaves a little of it behind, so it gets visibly smaller the further it crawls. Water soaks it back up to full size. Landing hurts as well: every time the blob hits the floor a splash of goo flies off, and the faster it falls, the bigger the splash. Each level becomes a question of how to cross it with the fewest steps and the softest landings.
Reaching the flag finishes the level, and the amount of blob that survives the trip is your score, kept for each of the twenty levels. Spikes end the attempt at once, some traps rise and fall on a timer, and coloured blocks take turns being solid: hit a switch with a thrown glob of goo and the red blocks vanish while the blue ones appear, or the other way round. Every glob costs a bit of body too.
Size changes how the blob plays. A full blob is tall and wide, a worn-down one is small enough to slip under lower ceilings. MilanFIN, who later made Blob Goes 3D for the Game Boy Advance, wrote it in C with GBDK-2020 and released it in 2023.
Playing it here
This is a homebrew game made for the Game Boy Color: a new game by an independent developer, not a commercial release. It also runs on the original Game Boy, but here it plays in colour in binjgb, a Game Boy emulator compiled to WebAssembly. Click Play now, press Enter at the title and choose a level.
Every level is open from the start. Completed levels and best scores are kept in this browser, the same way the cartridge's battery memory would keep them. F2 also saves the current state of the emulator and F4 brings it back. A gamepad works too.
Controls
| Key | Game Boy button | Action |

| Enter | Start | start; back to the level select |
| F2 / F4 | — | save / load the emulator state |
A few things worth knowing
Mind the landings. Walking wears the blob down step by step, and a long drop costs a big splash at the bottom. Short hops onto the next ledge are often cheaper than either, and what you save is score.
Refill before the hard part. Water restores the blob a little every moment you stay in it, so top up whenever water is near.
Globs fly in an arc. A thrown glob carries the blob's own momentum and falls with gravity. Pressing Z while the blob is touching a switch flips it as well.
Erasing is two steps. Select on the level select asks first: X confirms the erase, Z keeps your progress.
