About the game
You have lost your sight, but you have gained something bats are known for: echolocation. The level is a platformer, with a small white square for you, a flag to reach on the far side and a number of gaps, ledges and walls in between, but you cannot see any of it. The screen shows a dark grey field and not much more.
To see, you send out an echo. For a moment the space around you lights up, and you see the platforms, the drops and the walls that are close by. Then it fades, and you are back in the dark, with what you remember. The game is about reading the level in those short flashes and moving across it before it is gone.
There are two modes. In Explorer you can send an echo whenever you like, which makes it a calm game of care and patience. In Memorizer you get a single echo at the start of the level, which reveals the whole thing, and after that you must cross it from memory, and if you fall, you get a new echo. Explorer also hides a coin in each level, which only an echo will show. The game has three levels, tracks your time and keeps the level you reached in the browser. Ruud Schroën made it for js13kGames 2020, where the whole game had to fit in 13 KB, and the little pixel lettering in the menus is drawn by the code itself.
Playing it here
Click Play, pick Start game and then a mode. Press Space to send an echo, and walk and jump with the arrow keys, WASD or ZQSD. The game saves the level you have reached in the browser, and the menu then offers Continue game. "How to play" in the main menu explains the rules in a few lines.

| Input | Action |

A few things worth knowing
Echo, then plan. Send one, look, and work out the next two or three jumps before it fades.
Count your steps. In Memorizer mode it helps to note how many steps each platform takes, since you will not see them again.
Look for the coin. In Explorer there is a hidden coin on every level, and an echo in a corner is the only way to find it.
