About the game
Monsters are marching on your castle, and the only thing between them and the gate is a wizard with three elements. You stand in the middle of a green field and every creature that appears at the edge of the screen walks straight at the castle. The monsters arrive from every side, in red, blue and brown, the colours of the three elements, and a health bar at the top shows how much the castle can still take.
Your spells are made by mixing earth, fire and water. Press one key, two keys or all three, and the mix decides what comes out: a quick bolt, a heavier blow, something that bursts on impact. Then you hold the left mouse button to charge it, point at the enemy, and let go. The longer you charge, the stronger the spell is, but the longer you wait, the closer the monsters get. The king's letter at the start also gives the most important rule of the game: fire does not beat fire.
The game was made in 48 hours for the Kenney Jam 2025, whose rules allowed only art and sounds from two asset makers. That is why it has such a clean, readable style: one set of hand-drawn tiles, one font and a short list of sound effects, with a medieval track playing under them. There is a score, a high score that the game remembers in your browser, and four difficulty levels.
Playing it here
Click Play and wait for the game to load (about 50 MB, downloaded only when you press the button). Click once inside the game so that it receives the keyboard. The first screen has a "How to Play" page with the letter from the king; it is worth reading once. Then choose a difficulty: Easy, Normal, Hard or Endless.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Q | add earth to the spell |
| W | add fire to the spell |
| E | add water to the spell |
| Left mouse button (hold) | charge the spell |
| Left mouse button (release) | cast the spell at the pointer |
Tips
Match the element. Remember the letter from the king: you do not beat fire with fire. Look at the colour of the monster and, if a spell does little damage, change the mix.
Do not overcharge when you are being rushed. A small spell now is better than a perfect one that arrives after the castle has fallen.
Start on Easy. It is a gentle place to learn which mix hurts which monster before you try Normal, Hard or the Endless mode.
FAQ
Can I play with a touch screen? The game needs a keyboard for the three element keys and a mouse to aim and charge, so it is meant for a computer.
Is my score saved? Yes, the high score is kept in your browser on this device.
Why is the Kenney Jam logo missing from the title screen? The logo of the jam has no licence of its own in the repository, so this version shows the text "Kenney Jam" in its place. Nothing else was changed.
