About the game
On a small island in the middle of the ocean, a Rapa Nui builder has a job to do: build Moai, the great stone heads, and find the best way to transport them. Every level is a puzzle on a few squares of sand, with palms, rocks, small ponds and the platforms (called ahu) where the statues belong.
You do it all one square at a time. Chop a palm for wood. Carve a rock for stone, which is how Moai statues are made. With stone and wood you pave a road across the sand, and then you move a statue along that road, with sliding-block rules, to where it belongs. The screen counts your stone, your wood and your mana, and every action spends some of it, so a careless move can leave you short before the work is done. When mana runs out, the stage is lost and you try it again.
The look is detailed pixel art in a tilted view, with a bright blue sea and a chunky title, and sounds that are made by the code itself. Noncho Savov made the game for js13kGames 2023, where the whole thing, zipped, had to fit in 13 kilobytes. The theme that year was "Wave".
Playing it here
Click Play, then click in the game, or press Space or Enter, to leave the title screen. On the first stage the island is small, and the screen shows what the action at your square will do (for example, "Chop +3 Wood" or "Pave"). Press Space or click the action button to do it, and use the arrow keys, or the on-screen arrows, to move. The speaker button mutes the sound and the square button next to it toggles full screen.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | move |
| Space / Enter | do the action shown (chop, carve, pave, move the statue) |
| On-screen arrows and action button | the same, with the mouse or touch |
| Speaker button | sound on or off |
| Full-screen button | enter or leave full screen |
A few things worth knowing
Read the action button. It tells you the cost and the gain of what you are about to do, so check it before you press.
Count your mana. Every action costs some, so plan the road and the order of your chops before you start.
Retry freely. A lost stage lets you restart at once, which makes it easy to learn how the pieces behave.
