About the game
Momma Duck is a small platformer with a twist in how you steer. You do not only walk and jump: you can click a spot on the screen and the duck works out a route there by herself, jumping gaps and climbing walls on the way. The goal of each level is to collect the ducklings that are scattered around and lead them, in a line behind you, to the pond.
The ducklings follow Momma and copy her path, so a route that is fine for one duck can be awkward for a whole family. Some levels add animals that scare the little ones away, and you have to go back for the strays. The look is soft pixel art with a cheerful chiptune soundtrack, and it was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2021 (theme: "Joined Together").
Playing it here
Click Play and wait for the page to load (about 14 MB, downloaded only when you press the button). The first level teaches the controls. There are only a few levels and they unlock one after the other. The version here is the one the author published after the jam, built from the source code, with the analytics, the terms-and-privacy page and the support links removed so that the game never talks to any other server.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Click / tap | Momma walks to that spot by herself |
| Arrow keys or WASD | walk and climb |
| Space or X | jump |
Tips
Let her find the path. Clicking the far side of a gap usually works better than trying to time the jump yourself.
Wait for the line. Ducklings need a moment to catch up; if one is stuck behind a ledge, step back and let it follow.
Count them. The "Ducklings in tow" counter at the top left tells you when nobody is missing.
