About the game

In Neverball you never touch the ball. You tilt the floor. Each level is an obstacle course hanging in the sky, and gravity does the rest: lean the world and the ball rolls, gathers speed and, if you are careless, flies off the edge.

The goal is closed at the start. Collect enough coins to open it, then get the ball inside before the timer reaches zero. Coins worth more points are often in the most dangerous places, and every level keeps records for best time and most coins, so there is always a reason to play it again.

The game started as Robert Kooima's project in 2003 and grew into a long-lived free software classic, with level sets that run from gentle tutorials to genuinely brutal challenges.

Playing it here

This is the official browser build of Neverball 1.6.0. Click Play now and wait for it to load: about 30 MB the first time. The Easy levels are installed automatically. The other official level sets (Medium, Hard, Tour de force, Retour de force, Nevermania and Tones) are available from the game's own packages menu and are downloaded from this site.

Click inside the game to capture the mouse; Esc releases it and pauses. Your progress and records stay in this browser.

Controls

Input Action
Mouse movement / arrow keys tilt the floor
Mouse buttons / S and D rotate the view
Shift rotate the view faster
1, 2, 3 chase, lazy or manual camera
R restart the level
Esc pause, resume or leave

A few things worth knowing

Small movements win. The floor responds to how far you move, not how fast. Gentle mouse motion keeps the ball under control.

Let the camera help. If the chase camera swings too much, try the lazy camera with 2.

Unlock first, then hunt. You only need enough coins to open the goal. Chasing every coin is for the second run.
