About the game

This is a pinball table that scrolls: the screen follows the ball up and down a tall playfield full of bumpers, ramps and flippers, with the score in the corner and your remaining balls at the bottom. The physics are the heart of it, with a ball that rolls, bounces off the round bumpers and slides along the walls. Your best score is kept in the cartridge save.

You start each ball by pulling the plunger back and letting go. After that it is all in the flippers: catch the ball, time the flick, and try to keep it away from the gap at the bottom.

Playing it here

This is a homebrew game made for the Game Boy Advance: a new game by an independent developer, not a commercial release. It runs here in mGBA, a Game Boy Advance emulator compiled to WebAssembly. Click Play now, wait for the title screen and press X (A) on START. F2 saves the emulator state in this browser and F4 brings it back.

Controls

Key GBA button Action
Down arrow Control Pad Down hold to pull the plunger back, release to launch
Left arrow Control Pad Left left flipper
X A right flipper; start from the title screen
Enter Start pause

A few things worth knowing

Pull the plunger all the way. A short pull gives a weak launch and the ball may fall back.

Flip early, not late. The flippers swing quickly, so wait for the ball to reach them before you press.

The table is taller than the screen. Watch the ball, not the flippers, and use the camera to see what is above you.

Credits and licence

Pinball Simulator 2026 Advanced is by fixx, made for the GBA Jam 2026 on the Butano engine. The code is under the zlib licence and the graphics the author made are CC BY 4.0. Sounds and music from others: paddle sounds by schafferdavid (CC0), the bumper sound by mapleleaf (CC BY 4.0), "raspberry_jam" by congusbongus (CC0), "the_day_ahead" by K. Jose (CC0) and the menu music by Drozerix (public domain). The author does not publish a ready-made ROM, so the one served here was compiled from the project source code. Its opening screen, which in the original is a modified jam logo, was replaced by a simple one of our own. The full licence text is linked from this page.
