About the game

Red retells Little Red Riding Hood in the present day. Your mother has gone to work and left you a basket with coffee cake and a bottle of pink moscato for your Granny, whose arthritis has kept her in bed for days. Between home and Granny's house there is a forest path, a river to cross and a very friendly hunter who wants to know exactly where you are going.

You know how the story is supposed to go, and so does the game. The fun is in the ways this version bends it, borrowing from the Grimms, Perrault and Roald Dahl, and in deciding how much of the old tale you want to repeat.

It is short, it can be finished in one sitting, and it was the author's first Inform game, written for a New Year's minicomp.

A few things worth knowing

Talk to everyone. Most of the story happens in conversation. When you are not sure what to say, topics lists suggestions.

The path splits. The hunter asks whether you are going across the stones or the thorns, and your answer matters.

Granny needs help. Once you reach her house, listen to what she asks for: she will tell you what is still missing.
