About the game
It is your first day at your new job: cleaner of the Comrade Dungeon. By day your monstrous colleagues guard the treasure and beat up adventurers. By night every tile has to be scrubbed, and that is you. Or as much of it as you have the patience for, because this is, by the author's own description, a pretty chill job.
Rogue Janitor turns the usual roguelike inside out. The dungeon is generated procedurally and a whole adventure is simulated in it while you are not looking, so you only ever see the aftermath: puddles, footprints, spilled bottles, empty coffee mugs everywhere, a bit of fake blood (real violence, the game points out, is a strict violation of workplace safety regulations) and furniture that got knocked about. Your tools are a mop and your own hands. Everything you do works on the tiles next to you, and cleaning can also reveal hidden doors.
Between chores you can take a break in the staff lounge and talk to the monsters, who are some of the biggest, softest creatures around. They chat about their lives and their work days, sometimes bring you lunch, and when the day is over you can go out for dinner with them or have a quiet night in. There is also a secret room with fuzzy animals in it, and you can pet them.
The game is drawn with text characters and has no sound, and nothing about it is in a hurry.

A few things worth knowing
Everything works on the tiles next to you. Mopping, picking up and fixing all affect the squares around you, so you can clean a corridor while walking down it.
Look for hidden doors. Any of the cleaning actions can reveal one, so clean the walls that look suspicious.
Take your breaks. The lounge is where the story is.
