About the game

You are not the hero here: you are the mountain. The Eye of Glower-On watches from the peak of an unstable volcano while little adventurers try to climb it and put an end to your power. Your job is to stop them, with every dirty trick a furious mountain has.

You have three powers. A tremor shakes the slopes, boulders roll down on whoever is climbing, and orcs can be dropped onto the mountain to block the way. Each power needs time to recharge, so the game is about choosing the right moment, and the right group of heroes, for each one. The counters on the left show what is ready and what is still cooling down; the ones at the bottom tell you how many bobbits, dwarves and elves are still on their way up.

It started as a Ludum Dare 49 jam game (theme: "Unstable"). The cartoon violence is light and silly: the heroes are tiny pixel figures that go flying. The names and the flaming eye are a joke on fantasy stories, not a copy of one.

Playing it here

Click Play and wait for the page to load (about 13 MB, downloaded only when you press the button; the paths the heroes can take are worked out when the level starts, so give it a few seconds). Press the eye button on the title screen and start Level 1. The version here is built from the source code, with the analytics, the terms-and-privacy page and the support links removed so that the game never talks to any other server.

Tips

Watch the cooldowns. Do not waste a boulder on one hero when a group is about to reach the same ledge.

Use the tremor to reset a climb. It is the cheapest way to knock people back down.

Block the narrow parts. The mountain has only a few routes; put orcs where they all have to pass.

FAQ

Is it saved? Only your settings and finished levels, in this browser.

Is the violence a problem for children? It is cartoon slapstick with tiny pixel characters, but it is a game about crushing heroes, so judge for yourself.

Does it have sound? Yes, music and effects, adjustable in the settings.
