About the game

In Unicorn Tycoon you are not the manager of the park, you are the unicorn. You start with a green isometric meadow, a carousel and a small pile of credits. When you pick a building from the menu, the unicorn trots over to the spot you chose and raises it herself. She is one unicorn, not a construction crew, so only one thing goes up at a time. You have thirteen days to turn the field into the happiest park in the world, and then comes the Grand Parade.

Every day has two halves. In the morning you build, and the clock does not run, so there is no hurry. At noon the gates open and the visitors walk in. Each visitor has five needs: fun, food, drink, toilets and rest. Every need is a gauge that drains at its own pace, and the visitor walks to the nearest building that can fill the lowest one. Rides and stands wear out as they are used, and a building that wears out completely goes out of service and sends people away disappointed. One tap on it sends a rainbow beam that repairs it on the spot. A little over a minute later, at seven in the evening, the park closes and a report tells you how each need was met, what the mood was, and what the visitors paid.

What makes people pay is how satisfied they felt over the whole visit, not just whether every need was eventually met. A visitor who trekked between far-apart buildings pays badly, and one who found everything in a tight cluster pays well. Your reputation is not a number on the screen: it is the rainbow arch over the entrance gate, which lights up one band at a time, up to seven. A good reputation brings a bigger crowd the next day, and a bigger crowd is harder to keep happy, and that loop is the whole game.

There are fourteen types of building in four tabs: Rides, Zoo, Food and Comfort. Each copy of the same building costs more than the last, and there is no demolition, so what you build stays where you put it. After the thirteenth evening the Grand Parade shows your final treasury, your reputation as a row of rainbow dots and one of four verdicts, from "A start. The sheep like you, at least." to "The happiest park in the world." Unicorn Tycoon is by Naeliah and was made for js13kGames 2026, where the whole game had to fit in 13 KB: every ride, visitor and sheep is drawn with code, and the music is synthesised live.

Playing it here

Click Play, tap "Tap to start" and then the unicorn. Pick a building, tap the ground to move the ghost where you want it and confirm with the tick. The "Open the park" button appears as soon as your first building is up. The music starts with your first tap, and there is no mute button, so turn the sound down on your device if you need to. A full season is played in one sitting; your achievements, but not the park itself, are kept in this browser.

A few things worth knowing

Build close together. Visitors who walk far have low gauges for most of the visit and pay less, even if every need ends up met. Put food, drinks and toilets near the rides.

Cover all five needs on day one. The credits you start with are enough for each need, and the dots in the top bar show which ones your park can serve.

Repair at the right time. A building about to break is the one to tap first, because a broken one sends visitors away and makes the others walk further. Repairs are free.
