About the game
Vogeljagd 2 puts you in front of a wheat field with a barn and a telegraph pole, and the world is wider than the screen. Birds fly across the sky at different distances, some big and slow, some small and quick, and you have one minute to shoot as many as you can. Far-away birds are worth more than close ones.
There is one rule that did not exist in the first game: now and then a small aeroplane crosses the sky, and hitting it costs you ten points. Looking before you fire pays off. The gun holds five shells and reloads when empty, a counter at the top shows the seconds left, and your best score is saved in this browser.
Playing it here
Vogeljagd 2 was made for TIC-80, a fantasy console: an imaginary 1980s-style computer with a 240 by 136 screen and 16 colours, for which independent developers write new games. Nalquas released it in September 2020 and it runs here in the official TIC-80 web player. Click Play and wait for the intro, then click on the title screen to start. To pan the view, move the mouse towards the left or right edge of the screen or use the arrow keys. The game needs a mouse to aim. Esc opens the TIC-80 menu.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Mouse | aim the crosshair |
| Mouse at the left or right edge, or Left / Right arrows | pan the view |
| Left mouse button | fire; start the game |

A few things worth knowing
Look around. The wheat field is wider than the screen and birds often cross the part you cannot see, so pan now and then instead of waiting in the middle.
Planes cost ten points. Check what you are aiming at before you click. A plane looks different from a bird and shooting it takes points away.
Count your shells. The five shells at the bottom right show what is left; when the last one goes, you wait for the reload with the clock still running.
