About the game
Yet Another Idle RPG is a text game with the look of a spreadsheet and the soul of a role-playing game. You wake up in a village with a few coins, some stale bread and no memory of how you got there, and from there almost everything you do makes you better at it. Fighting levels up your weapon skills and your stats; walking in the dark teaches you to see in it; selling things trains haggling; gathering, cooking and crafting have their own skills; and even something as small as getting hit all day makes you tougher. The progression is slow and deep, and it is the heart of the game.
The world is a set of locations that you move between by choosing the next place from a list. Some are safe, with traders, villagers to talk to, a bed to sleep in and a chest to store things; others are fields, forests, caves and mountain slopes where enemies wait, and where the weather, the time of day and how narrow the place is change the fight. You can fight by hand, pick a combat stance that trades stamina for strength, equip armor and weapons found or crafted from components, use food in combat, take quests, read books and keep a bestiary of what you have met. Money is counted in wood, copper, silver and gold, traders pay less than they charge, and a market that you flood with the same loot pays less each time.
Yet Another Idle RPG was made by Miktaew, inspired by Proto23 by Corc, and it is still in development: the help page lists where the current content ends. It runs in your browser in plain JavaScript, with no sound. The game is in English.
Playing it here
Click Play, wait for the loading screen and press its PLAY button. The screen is divided into panels: your character on the left (stats, equipment, inventory), the current location in the middle with its choices, and quests, skills and other lists on the right. Click what you want to do. The game keeps running while you wait, so be aware that it also keeps time even if your attention is somewhere else. Use Save at the bottom to save in this browser (the game also saves by itself), and use Export from time to time to get a copy of your save as a text file that you can bring back with Import: the author himself recommends it, since the game is still changing and a save can break. The ? button opens the help page and the version number the list of changes.

Tips
Do not rush. Almost nothing is lost by being slow, and many places punish a hero who goes in too weak. Level your skills on easy enemies first.
Eat and rest. Stamina falls in long fights and the attack drops to half when it runs out, so carry food and sleep in a bed when you can.
Read the items. Their descriptions tell you what they can be used for in crafting, and the help page explains how quality and components work.
Export. Keep a copy of your save outside the browser.
FAQ
Is there an end? Not yet. The game is under development and the help page says where the content stops for now.
Does it need the internet? No. Everything is in the page, and the game makes no requests to other sites.
Where is my save? In this browser, on this device. Clearing the site data removes it, so use Export.
Does it work on a phone? The screen is laid out for a wide window, so it is much better on a computer or a tablet.
Credits and licence
Yet Another Idle RPG was made by Miktaew and is released under the MIT licence; the help page of the game thanks the contributors of content and fixes. The page uses HackTimer by Turuslan (MIT) to keep time in a background tab, the Material Icons font by Google (Apache License 2.0) and the Patrick Hand font (SIL Open Font License), which replaces the proprietary Ink Free font of the original page. The game was built from the author's source; the changes made for this site are the replacement of the font and of the icon font, the removal of the links, buttons and images that led to other sites (GitHub, Ko-fi) and of the sharing metadata, and a rule that blocks any request to other sites. The patch, the build script and the licence texts are linked from this page.
