Zone B

About the game

You drive a small blue tank through an arena strewn with short yellow walls. The tank never stops by itself: it rolls straight ahead and bounces back off walls and the edge of the field. Somewhere among the walls are nine red enemy tanks, but the arena is dark, and you only see an enemy, or its shots, when it comes within a short distance of you.

A tap turns the tank a quarter turn to the right. Press and hold, and it slows to a stop and fires a steady stream of short-range bullets straight ahead. The walls stop bullets, so a corridor between two walls is the place to wait for something to wander into it. The enemies fire bursts of their own, and one hit ends the game.

Meanwhile a blue ring closes in on the arena. A dashed grey ring shows where the next zone will be, and every ten seconds or so the safe area shrinks towards it. Stay inside or the game is over. Each tank you shoot is worth one point more than the one before it, and when the last one is down you get a WINNER message and a new level with more tanks.

Zone B is one of the mini-games that Kenta Cho, who works as ABA Games, makes with his crisp-game-lib library. There are no image or sound files: the graphics are drawn by the code, and the sound effects and music are generated while you play.

A few things worth knowing

Stop before you shoot. The tank only fires while it is standing still, so find a spot with a wall on each side and let the enemies come to you.

Watch the dashed ring. It shows the next safe zone. Start moving towards it before the blue ring catches up.

Chain your kills. The points go up by one for every tank you destroy in the same level, so shooting several in a row is worth far more than picking them off slowly.
