About the game

You are a drop of water, and the rooms you pass through are cold, warm and very hot by turns. Aqua Journey is a small puzzle platformer built around one idea: your body changes with the temperature. Where it is mild you are a liquid that slides along the floor and jumps. In the cold you freeze into a solid block, and in the heat you boil into a gas that floats upward. The thermometer on the left of the screen shows where you stand between the three states.

Each of the six rooms places areas of cold and heat between you and the exit, and the puzzle is deciding when to be which form. A gap that a liquid cannot cross may be an easy float for steam; a ledge too high to jump to may be reached by drifting up and cooling off at the right moment.

It was made by Yeldham (Michael Alexsander Silva Dias) for the Godot Community Game Jam of June 2018, where it placed 8th overall, and released as free software. It is short, calm, and a nice little idea.

Tips

Watch the thermometer. It shows how hot or cold you are, so you can see the next change of form coming.

Think about what each form is good at. Liquid jumps, solid is heavy, gas floats; most rooms ask you to use two of them in the right order.

Use the temperature zones on purpose. You change slowly, so a short visit to a hot or cold area is a way to adjust, not only an obstacle.
