About the game
It started as a walk in the forest on holiday. Seven hours later the snow is still coming down, the storm is the worst in more than forty years and you have no idea how to get back to your hotel in town. You finally stumble into an old cabin, but nobody is home, the place has been turned upside down and it is getting dark outside.
From there the game is about staying alive long enough to get out. You will need light, warmth and some way back to civilisation, and the cabin and the woods around it hold most of what you need, if you look in the right places. Something about the storm is not quite right either: the wind sounds strange, and the dark is best avoided.
Jason Self released Snowed In in 2021 as free software, and kept polishing it until Release 4 in 2022. It is a compact, old-school adventure with a handful of rooms, a few clear goals and a score that tells you how far you have come.

A few things worth knowing
Search the cabin first. Every room has something useful, and some of it is tucked away inside furniture and cupboards.
Mind the cold. You are not dressed for a blizzard, and the game keeps track of how long you spend out in it.
Light matters. A lamp only lasts so long, and wandering around in total darkness is a very bad idea.
Save before you head out. The storm is unforgiving, so a save in the cabin makes it easy to try again.
