About the game

You are a knight in a dungeon made of hexagons, carrying a sword and a grappling hook. The sword is for enemies standing next to you. The hook is for everything else: throw it at an enemy in a straight line and the two of you trade places, and the one who is pulled across takes a hit. That single move is the whole game, and it is used for attacking, for escaping, and for dragging a wolf into the path of a cupid's arrow.

Every level is a small hex map you can read at a glance, with a key to find, a locked exit and a handful of monsters: undead warriors, wolves that move twice, stone heads that never move, treants that are too heavy to be pulled, animated armour that cannot be hurt, cupids that shoot from afar, and bloated toads and dark bombs that explode when they are hurt. Each one forces a different way to use the hook. The enemies move after you, one step per turn, so the game is a puzzle about who is standing where when the turn ends. Twenty levels lead to the amulet.

It was made by one person for a seven-day roguelike contest, and it shows in a good way: nothing is wasted, the art is a few shades of grey with red for blood and health, and a run takes about as long as a coffee.

Click Play, wait a moment for the game to load (about 3 MB, downloaded only when you press the button) and click "Press to start". The game saves your place when you leave a level with Esc, and "Press to start" then continues from it.

Tips

Look before you step. Right click an enemy to see what it will hit next turn, and stay out of those tiles unless you mean to be there.

Pull them to you, or yourself to them. The hook always swaps places, so it also works as a teleport that damages the enemy you land next to. Use it to get out of a corner.

Use their own attacks. A cupid's arrow and an exploding bomb or toad hurt whoever is in the way. Swap an enemy into the line of fire.

Pick up the shards. A health shard restores a heart, and at full health it adds a new one, so it can be worth taking a longer way.

FAQ

Does it work on a phone? It is played with a mouse, so a computer is the best choice; a tap works like a click, but the keyboard shortcuts and the right click are not available.

Is my progress saved? Yes, in your browser, when you leave a level with Esc.

Why do the tiles look slightly different from the original? The original drew the map with a part of the engine that no longer exists, so this version redraws the same images in another way.
