About the game
The Art of Fugue is a set of logic puzzles built on one rule. There are four characters, Een, Twee, Drie and Vier. Whatever you type, Een does it now. Next turn Twee does the same thing, the turn after that Drie, and then Vier, while Een is already carrying out your newer commands. Like the voices of a fugue, the same line comes back again and again, a little later each time.
What makes it tricky is that the world keeps changing in between. A door that
was open when Een walked through may be shut by the time Vier arrives, and a
command such as take black picks up whatever black thing is in front of each
character when their turn comes. Each puzzle has a goal for all four, and the
game counts your moves against the best known solution.
The game was put together by Victor Gijsbers with puzzles and parser work by Jimmy Maher, Dorte Lassen and Johan, and its authors describe it as closer to a chess problem than to an ordinary adventure.

A few things worth knowing
Commands repeat, not actions. What comes back is the text you typed, read
again in each character's own situation. Short, general words like take black
can mean different things for different characters.
Waiting is a move. Sometimes the best command is wait, to let a door
close or a lift arrive before the next character reaches it.
Puzzles unlock as you go. The first three are open from the start; solving puzzles opens the later ones.
Fewer moves is better. The menu shows how many moves you used against the best solution the authors know. They asked players to send in anything better.
