About the game
You are a cat. Your human does not know how to hunt, and there is only one solution: enter the Cat Dimension, find the Mouse of Yendor, defeat it and leave it in your human's shoe. First things first, though: destroy the house, and then enter the mystic portal.
Furball Catacombs begins with a character screen where you give the cat a name of up to thirteen letters and pick one of four coats (orange, grey, black or white). Then you are in the living room, with a catnip plant, a scratching post, a food bowl, a fridge and a pair of slippers, and the game turns into a turn-based roguelike on a grid where you push your luck. Three numbers on the side panel tell you how you are doing: fear, hunger and sharpness. Items like the weird bug you can carry in your mouth, and a list of special actions appears as buttons when there is something to do, such as picking up or using the catnip.
Everything is drawn with simple, friendly sprites. As you go deeper into the catacombs there are keys and locked doors, mice, ghosts, robot vacuums and cat bombs. The 25 sprites come with the game under the same licence, and the whole thing was made in the one week of the 7DRL.

A few things worth knowing
Watch fear and hunger. The two numbers rise as you go, so food is not just decoration.
Use your mouth. You can carry one item at a time, and many of the useful ones are things a cat would carry.
Try things in the living room. The first room is a safe place to find out what the buttons and the furniture do.
